Growing up in Canada I was always fascinated with my Norwegian ancestry.  I remember getting pictures of our relatives in the mail (that was before the world wide web made its entry into our lives) celebrating various occasions and wearing their Norwegian bunads.  Oh how I wished I could have a Norwegian bunad!  Well, a few years ago, I was lucky enough to be able to get one made for me.

Should I bind off with knit / purl … ?

The other day, I was asked …

When I´m knitting a top-down sweater (or toe-up socks) and am finishing off with the rib. Should I bind off with knit / purl … ?

Unfortunately, I don´t think there is a right or wrong answer to this.  It really all depends on the type of finish you want.

  • should the bind off be stretchy?
  • should it look exactly like the cast on?

Luxury hand knit spa cloths …

Luxurious knit spa clothHand knit cotton spa cloths are pure luxury … ! Have you made any?  I remember learning to knit these as a child, they  were one of the first items I made – easy to learn and quick enough not to lose interest.  Little did I know then how much I would use and appreciate them later in life …
